Sydney's Festive Season

Sydney is a city brimming with the hustle and bustle of events and activities all year-round so when it comes to the festive season, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. To make deciding your plans this year a little easier, here is a round-up of what you can look forward to this upcoming holiday season.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without seeing the town decked out in tinsel so visit the iconic Martin Place Christmas Tree from the 25th November to celebrate the beginning of the all things Christmas. Every night until the big day, there will be musical performances from beneath the tree as different choirs serenade the street with Christmas carols.

For a family affair, Christmas on the Green is the perfect mix of entertainment, food and fun. Held in Hyde Park on the 25th of November, the evening will include visits from Santa, live performances, food and a firework display.

If you’d rather avoid the CBD but still want an event for the whole family, there are free village Christmas concerts being held in AlexandriaSurry Hills and Rosebery at the beginning of December.

Tick off some of that Christmas shopping and find a unique gift at one of Sydney’s many Christmas markets, like the Glebe Artisan Market or The Rocks Christmas Markets.

Sydney celebrates the festive season in spectacular fashion and when New Year’s Eve rolls around, the city has an atmosphere like no other.

More than a million people fill the city and its surrounding areas each year to catch the iconic firework displays. There are several locations around Sydney that have amazing vantage points for spreading out your picnic blanket and inviting your family and friends. Places like Darling Harbour, Milson’s Point and Campbell’s Cove are free for the public to enjoy.

Ensure you aren’t watching the fireworks from home this year and purchase tickets to reserve your spot at some of the more exclusive vantage points of Barangaroo Reserve, Cahill Expressway or Clark Island. This will ensure you have the perfect view when the fireworks begin.

Consider splurging and booking a NYE cruise to join the Harbour of Light Parade or maybe, use NYE as the perfect opportunity to indulge at one of Sydney’s delicious restaurants. You could spend the evening at Quay West Suites Sydney and celebrate New Year’s Eve with a 5 course- degustation menu. From $249 per person, you can enjoy fabulous food in our restaurant with a view of the fireworks from our viewing deck.

The festive season is already upon us, so make your plans and get ready to celebrate!
